The Kooples Flagship Opens in L.A.
San Francisco may have beat L.A. by getting their Kooples store last week, but the City of Angels can stand proud now that we’ve got a flagship from the chic French brand. The Robertson Boulevard store houses both the Kooples main line for men and women and the Kooples Sport line, a secondary collection that made its debut last year in London. The L.A. boutique marks the brand’s second West Coast location and this coming fall, the Kooples will fªte the opening of two new stores in New York’s Meatpacking and SoHo neighborhoods.
Founded in 2008 by the same family that established Comptoirs de Cottoniers, Laurent, Alexandre and Raphael Elich, the Kooples blends laid-back Left Bank French style with the traditional tailoring of Saville Row.
Currently, the store is fully stocked with merchandise from the brand’s Fall 2014 offering, which leans heavy on the Mod movement with Union Jack knitwear, biker-inspired leather pieces and plenty of fringe and buckles adorning shift dresses and skinny pants. Shoes and bags get the same badass treatment courtesy motorcycle detailing and chunky shoes, but for those looking for something a little softer, there’s plenty of basics and lace-trimmed (ignore the skulls woven into the delicate pattern, if you must) knits that are perfect for work and more.
